Healthy Kale Chip
A quick and easy way to make a crunchy and healthy snack with Kale Chips!
Often I don’t have much time and the cravings for a snack can give way to temptation to have a naughty treat. However, with this quick and easy Healthy Kale Chip recipe, there’s no excuse not to enjoy a healthy bite between meals. It’s also a great side for any dish, just to add a crunchy element with some green colour!
** Tip rest between batches and intervals not to overheat the microwave.
|Kale leaves||3-4 bunches|
|Chilli flakes||1 teaspoon|
|Olive oil||¼ teaspoon|
Wash the Kale 3-4 leaves and pat dry with a tea towel. Tear the Kale into 2-3cm pieces, discarding the stems.
Place the kale in a flat microwave proof plate, season with salt, chili flakes and olive oil and massage and you will see the kale wilt down.
Microwave the seasoned kale for 2 minutes, then take a 1 minute break (to cool). Then microwave for an additional 2 minutes, take a one minute break (to cool). You may need to microwave a third time, but it will depend on how crispy you want the kale and also your microwave. Monitor closely as cooking times could be less for more powerful microwave.
Be careful when taking the plate out of the microwave as it will be extremely hot! Use oven mitts or a tea towel. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. If you have any extra, you can store them in an air tight jar for the next day!
